Some of you cleanup your desk but the common area still remain unclean. As you all know, the common area is used by all, so this coming Friday we will all try this again. In the fiscal year budget there was not much funds allocated custodial maintenance. With that being said if everyone would clean up after himself or herself it would make things a lot more easer for everyone. The targeted areas to be cleaned are as follows: 1. The copy machine area:- We should make sure that the waste baskets are empted out. Also make sure that supplies are neatly organized on the shelves. 2. The lunch room:- Counters need to be wipe down after use The refrigerator need to also be kept clean any food item left in there over the weekend should be thrown out on Monday morning. The sinks and coffee machine should also be wiped down after every use. And last but not least the office shelves should be reorganized at the end of every work day. Bshs 305 Interoffice Memo

...TO: All Employees FROM: Zachary Robertson, Administrator DATE: July 2, 1976 SUBJECT: Tarasoff v. Regents of the University of California As human service professionals, the ruling of the Tarasoff v. Regents of the University of California is very important to the ethical code we currently practice. By ruling in favor of Tarasoff, the court now implements the duty to warn and the duty to protect. Directly: “The Court stated that when a therapist determines, or pursuant to the standards of his profession should determine, that his patient presents a serious danger of violence to another, he incurs an obligation to use reasonable care to protect the intended victim against such danger.” The discharge of this duty may require you to take one or more steps, depending on the nature of the case. Thus, it may call for you to warn the intended victim or others likely to apprise the victim of the danger, to notify the police, or to take whatever other steps are reasonably necessary under the circumstances. This legislation not only affects the human service’s code of ethics, but also our decision making process. The following will provide, in greater detail, what that means to you. Human Services Code of Ethics The primary functions of our code of ethics are to establish guidelines for professional behavior and to assist members of the profession in establishing a professional identity. The Tarasoff case seemingly presents limitations to our current code of ethics...

...INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM TO: PAT JONSON FROM: SHYNELLE CADE SUBJECT: HUMAN RESOURCE ISSUES DATE: 9/30/2012 In response to the emails you have received, I have done the necessary research and summarized the details as requested. Email Message 1: Discharges at the Anderson Club Store The state in which the Anderson Cost Club store is located is an “At-Will State,” which means an employment relationship that has no express agreement or contractual obligation to remain in the relationship; and either party may terminate the relationship at any time, for any reason, as long as the reason is not prohibited by law, such as for discriminatory purposes, is not a wrongful termination. For informative purposes, when a discharge involves no statutory discrimination, breach of contract, or traditional exception to the at-will doctrine, a termination may still be considered wrongful and the employer may be liable for “wrongful discharge,” “wrongful termination,” or “unjust dismissal.” Therefore, to ensure that workplace policies do not wrongfully discriminate against any employees, and do not fall under other exceptions, Cost Club Stores must also beware of situations in which our policies or actions in a particular termination can form the basis for unjust dismissal (Bennett-Alexander, Hartman, 2007). The GM for the Anderson Cost Club store made a cost cutting decision on terminating employees. However, he was incorrect about there being no restrictions to the right to...

Accountant Memo

...Accounting Memp Interforoffice Memo TO: ACCOUNTING TEAM MATE FROM: ANDREW ACCOUNTANT SUBJECT: LIFO FIFO EXPLANATION DATE: 2/24/2015 Occasionally an individual who works at a company in a certain department is required to pass on information to another department or a supervisor. It is necessary to make this memo accurate and professional since information on inventory valuations has been requested by the executive vice president. To be considered that they are not aware of the jargon used by accountants the information used must be explained to company officers. Below is a summary of the changes in the interoffice memo that relates to the accounting jargon and abbreviations. It will also include the requested information on Last In First Out (LIFO) and First In First Out (FIFO) method. The memo is changed from casual to professional and formal after it is revised. The memo concerns the FIFO and LIFO methods and the effects of the methods with-in the company. This requires an explanation of each valuation method in terms of the profit and loss on the income statement and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS). This needs to be elaborated without being condescending. It does not affect the retail industry’s inventory valuation methods, so it is not necessary to include the lawsuit by Macy’s in the last paragraph. The inflationary economic time and the accounting jargon of elastic pricing needs to be changed to professional wording. It would be appropriate to express that...

Evaluating Business Communication

...communication to use based on the accounting scenario. Since there was no collaboration by the learning team, this report is based solely on the opinion of one student. There are various factors that need to be considered when writing a business communique. The purpose, audience and leadership style are important considerations to be made when deciding on which type of communication to when reporting on the acquisition of a company. The first line of communication would need to be between the staff accountant and her accounting peers. The type of communication that would need to be used would be an interoffice memo. A memo would be an appropriate form of communication to advise the accounting department of the due diligence investigation. The memo can also be used to share with her peers the assignment and what needs to be done to complete the assignment. The interoffice memo is an ethical form of communication for this audience. The second line of communication would be between the staff accountant and the sales manager. The staff accountant is advising the sales manager of the results of the review of JJJ’s financial condition. An appropriate and ethical form of communication to use for this situation would be an email. The next line of communication would be between the accounting manager and the ad hoc committee. Effective Communication in the Business Enviorment

...EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION IN THE BUSINESS ENVIORMENT Brittany Harris PROFESSOR: ERIC BALTAS BUSINESS 100 (INTRO TO BUSINESS) May 11, 2014 Communication is the key to every type of relationship or partnership. In the business environment due to a vast variety of people in one business this can be a hard thing to grasp. There are so many different barriers that people face such as language and cultural barriers. It can be hard to communicate with somebody who doesn’t know English or somebody who doesn’t understand your reasoning through cultural differences. I have experienced the hard ships of communication in the business world the trail and the error and also the succession. At my job we are all different but we all share a common ground and that is to heal the human body. We are a small business an urgent care center for people who don’t like the lengthy or pricey trip to the emergency room. The communication in our office was one of the most difficult problems we faced as a business. The doctors all had different styles a to which the nurses had to be adjusted to also none of the nurses would cross check with the others before they completed or did a task. For instance we would try to get together the weekly orders and reports but nobody had communicated this lead to double orders and etc. One day my manager had had enough and sat us down and came with a wonderful game plan for our little office to use and it was very effective. She sat us down and explained...

Memo Review

...Memo Review Your name here BCOM/230 August 26, 2013 Instructor name Memo Review Whenever an individual is in any type of a leadership role with their employer, it will be necessary to communicate with other department managers and possibly even upper level management. In this scenario, the boss has requested an overview of LIFO versus FIFO as it would apply to their company. The memo that will be submitted to the boss must be professional. The figures presented in the memo should be as precise as possible so that company officials will not be misled. The use of jargon in a memo is not professional and is not a good idea. Members of the accounting department use jargon when interacting with each another. Jargon and clichés are not uncommon while communicating within your department, but should be avoided when communicating with other department heads and management. This kind of treatment would inform readers that the author doesn't have particular concern for them and the current case is dealt with much in the same manner as others (Lesikar, Flatley, & Rentz, 2008). The memo presented to us for our assignment is an “inter-departmental memo” so the language used in it is acceptable. However, the memo that will be sent to the boss is official correspondence and the content should be presented in a professional manner. The memo alters from casual to official while revising the data. In this scenario, the memo under review is about...

...Interoffice Memo BSHS 305/ Historical Development of Human Services: An Introduction interoffice memorandum to: | human services organization | from: | subject: | case ruling of tarasoff v. Regents of the univesity of california | date: | March 27, 1976 | | | As everyone knows there is a new ruling for the Tarasoff v. Regents of the University of California. The ruling two years ago caused a debate on the ruling of professionals getting charged and those that weren’t, so changes have now taken affect. As professionals in the human service field it is important for us to know that now if a client expresses they have a plan to kill someone, it is our obligation to break confidentiality and inform the potential victim and or the police of the thoughts of your client. This may be a tough thing for some of us to do because of the ethical responsibilities we have with our clients but now this is a part of our legal responsibilities to protect the welfare of the society by having the duty to protect individuals who are bing threatened with bodily harm by a client naming it “duty to warn and duty to protect” (in the previous ruling it was only known as “duty to warn”. This is also known as a “Tarasoff warning” in place, meaning where a mental health professional is required to warn of a credible danger to a reasonably identifiable victim. Duty to protect includes clients that may be suicidal. Human services code of ethics entitles us as professionals to let the client...

The quality of work that comes from Roanoke, Virginia branch is affecting the Phoenix branch in a very negative way. For some reason, in the past three months, we have lost the key personnel which that have had been with the company for more than five years. Accounting Memo Summary

...Accounting Memo Summary BCOM/230 Accounting Memo Summary The time of an Executive is extremely valuable, thus the information you’re going to present must be equally as valuable. The information must be presented to them in a manner that is easy to understand and comprehend. This will be what they use to base they their decision on, or at least explore the possible benefits further. This summary should be started off with the same change that has greatly benefited a competitor recently. (i.e. the news about $9M in tax refunds for Macy’s) This would be enough to spark this person’s interest for sure. Then, data and figures should be provided regarding how this change would directly affect our company, not just “because someone else did it.” Be sure to list the advantages and disadvantages, to show that this has been looked at in an objective manner. Is the overall and ongoing benefit worth the cost of changing the way we account for inventory on our P&L’s? (i.e. IT work, reporting changes, legal fees for case vs. U.S., etc.) Making a change like this will have an impact on more than one department. Information like this would be most easily communicated with the use of Powerpoint slides and graphs for quick and easy analysis. This isn’t just an interoffice memo and shouldn’t have that look. It should be presented in a more formal manner. The information should be concise. If it’s too wordy, the actual point of the intended message may not get across, especially...

...Accounting Memo interoffice memo To: New Manager in Position CC: New Hiring Manager From: Old Manager in Position Date: July 18, 2014 Re: Helpful guidelines in the New Position During the period of working in the manager position that you will be taking over, I have built my reputation on building strong communication between the group members. Within the group I have managed some of the barriers of communication and they were mostly language, psychological and attitudinal barriers. I found it to be very helpful to understand each and every member of the group you work with to get a better understanding how these differences will affect the group productivity and performance. Below is some useful information to assist you in your new position. The first thing that I did when trying o overcome the barriers was to gather information about everyone in the work group. The first barrier was language. I found it hard to communicate to someone in my accounting field if they did not know the jargon. Jargon is not acceptable sometimes, especially when they are expecting you to explain everything. I started to understand that language barriers create the lack of confidence in others. Please make sure you learn all the accounting meanings and learn how to explain it to others. As work related issues with language presented itself, I educated everyone on it and even educated myself on things as well. The second barrier was psychological. If someone...
