Have you ever wondered about how your eye works or how your eye deteriorates? Imagine not being able to see, or your vision becoming gradually worst, 60% of people suffer from optic eye problems such as farsightedness and colorblindness. There are many reasons for these problems, but there are also cures. To start it off let me tell you about how the eye sees. “First the light enters the eye and bends when it hits the cornea and travels toward the iris. Ciliary muscles around the iris react to light in the room and cause the iris to open or close around the pupil.” “After light travels to the lens, through the pupil.” “After passing through the lens, the light that initially bounced off the screen reaches the light-sensing rod and cone cells …show more content…
The cornea is a “window that light travels through and works together with the lens to focus and transmit information to the brain, shaped like a curved disk.” The conjunctiva is layer called the mucous membrane, it secretes a semiliquid mucus which lubricates the eye and keeps it clean. The eyeball is the whole eye and is normally 1 inch in diameter and has 5 layers of tissues. The aqueous humor is not an actual part, “but a fluid that has the same qualities as blood but nor the same protein content, it contains nutrients that enrich the cornea and front area of the eye.” The pupil is where light enters, “the iris is the colored part of your eye that determines how large your pupils should be, the ciliary muscles pull the iris open and shut to protect the eye from too much light.” Lastly is the retina, it is inside the eyeball behind the vitreous humor. “This part holds 150 rods and 10 million cones. The rods do not perceive color but are good are defining clear, shape images.” “Cones on the other hand detect color but provide little clarity when there is little like.” (“Eyes.” Teen
