6 Weird Habits of Successful People

...6 Weird Habits Of Successful People December 18, 2012 We call people weird because they do things differently than we would. Seth Godin wears those brightly colored but mismatched socks. Steve Jobs’ work uniform was a black turtleneck and jeans. Look around and you can see the obvious differences in a lot of successful people. What most business owners don’t see when they look at successful people are the habits they’ve developed. Leonard DaVinci slept two hours at a time in four-hour intervals. Charles Dickens would only write and sleep facing north. Some of their weirdness was superstition, but a lot of it wasn’t. Here are six weird habits of successful people. 1.They think backward. Successful people start at the finish. Most of us have been taught to take one step, then the next, and the next until we arrive at our destination or goal. But successful people, like rocket scientists, actually clearly define the outcome they want first, and then reverse engineer the steps they need to take to get there. 2. They like to repeat themselves, a lot. They repeat themselves a lot. If you’re pre-vinyl and never heard a broken record, think “repeat” or “loop.” Successful people don’t stop when they have a success. When they succeed, they try to figure out ways to repeat that success. 3. They cut corners. Once successful people figure out how to repeat success, then they figure out how to get the same result faster, easier and cheaper. There’s a fine line between cutting......

7 Habits Successful People

...Amber Wennerstrom DSS Leadership Session 2 18 April 2012 The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey is a very insightful book providing an approach to obtain personal and interpersonal effectiveness. I really gained a lot from Covey’s different examples he provided in each chapter via family, business and society in general. Covey explains how a person must make a paradigm shift prior to incorporating these habits into their life. We have to be committed to ourselves before we can commit to others. I really find this “inside-out” approach inspiring as change starts with oneself. By incorporating these habits in our lives it will make success easier to obtain both personally and professionally and failure a lot easier to swallow as well. But before we make any changes in our lives we first have to focus on our own personal attitudes and behaviors. Habit number one discusses the importance of being proactive. In order to be proactive we have to possess the initiative to make things happen. Being proactive is the ability to respond positively to our circumstances. I have heard so many times the expression, “that’s just the way I am, “to me this is one of the most frustrating things one can say. I just want to tell them “No, that is the way you are choosing to be and there is something you can do about it.” We all have to bypass the negativity and find a way to focus our time and energy on being effective. Covey......

...Habits of Successful People Rise and shine! Morning time just became your new best friend. Love it or hate it, utilizing the morning hours before work may be the key to a successful, and healthy, lifestyle. That’s right, early rising is a common trait found in many CEOs, government officials, and other influential people. Margaret Thatcher was up every day at 5 a.m.; Frank Lloyd Wright at 4 am and Robert Iger, the CEO of Disney wakes at 4:30am just to name a few. I know what you’re thinking – you do your best work at night. Not so fast. According to Inc. Magazine, morning people have been found to be more proactive and more productive. In addition, the health benefits for those with a life before work go on and on. Let’s explore 5 of the things successful people do before 8 am. 1. Exercise. I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again. Most people that work out daily, work out in the morning. Whether it’s a morning yoga session or a trip to the gym, exercising before work gives you a boost of energy for the day and that deserved sense of accomplishment. Anyone can tackle a pile of paperwork after 200 ab reps! Morning workouts also eliminate the possibility of flaking out on your cardio after a long day at work. Even if you aren’t bright eyed and bushy tailed at the thought of a 5 am jog, try waking up 15 minutes early for a quick bedside set of pushups or stretching. It’ll help wake up your body, and prep you for your day. 2. Map Out Your Day. Maximize your potential by mapping......

Subject : Only People Who Earn a Lot of Money Are Successful.

...Subject : Only people who earn a lot of money are successful. Money and success are two big goals in every people’s lives. However, whether money and success have a tight correlation depends on standpoint of different people. Personally, I believe that people need more than just money to become successful. Those needs include high achievements, acknowledgement of community and good consideration. Success is a state which is achieved when a person accomplishes what he wishes and feels satisfied. Bill Gates, Ex-President of Microsoft, when he established Microsoft, he never intended to earn money. His intention was to succeed in making a computer to be easily operable by a common man. We all know what happened later. Microsoft has become a revelation in the computer industry and went on to garner profits of unimaginable proportions. Indeed, the persons who change the world don’t consider money as their first objective but the contribution in the development of human life from all its different sides. At this stage we can set the example of Gandhi who came to back to India and started his fight for freedom and independence of his country. Without him, the story of Indian independence movement would be incomplete. Although he didn’t earn lot of money, he had earned a place in the heart of every Indian. There is no one who can really acclaim his or her success without the acknowledgement of community. Indeed, successful people are those who are well considered not because......

16 Differences Between Successful People and Unsuccessful People

...differences between successful people and unsuccessful people that Andy Bailey and the postcard claim, followed by a picture of the postcard itself: 1. Embrace change vs. Fear change Embracing change is one of the hardest things a person can do. With the world moving so fast and constantly changing, and technology accelerating faster than ever, we need to embrace what’s coming and adapt, rather than fear it, deny it or hide from it. 2. Want others to succeed vs. Secretly hope others fail When you’re in an organization with a group of people, in order to be successful, you all have to be successful. We need to want to see our co-workers succeed and grow. If you wish for their demise, why even work with them at all? 3. Exude joy vs. Exude anger In business and in life, it’s always better to be happy and exude that joy to others. It becomes contagious and encourages other to exude their joy as well. When people are happier they tend to be more focused and successful. If a person exudes anger, it puts everyone around them in a horrible, unmotivated mood and little success comes from it. 4. Accept responsibly for your failures vs. Blame others for your failures Where there are ups, there are most always downs. Being a leader and successful businessperson means always having to accept responsibility for your failures. Blaming others solves nothing; it just puts other people down and absolutely no good comes from it. 5. Talk about ideas vs. Talk about......

...the company to achieve a successful positioning i.e. when the target customers find that the product satisfies their expectations and desires, there are steps the company must follow. These include amongst others; the company must understand what the target customers expect and believe to be most important when deciding on a purchase, the company must develop a product which caters specifically for the customers’ needs and expectations. On the basis of the description of the market segmentation process, the next part of this thesis will be the matter of the choice of target group. The first analysis will be done according to the Minerva model on the basis of a questionnaire conducted. The Minerva model divides people into 5 different lifestyle segments based on their values and each of these segments is designated a colour; blue, green, rose, violet and the grey segment in the middle. Furthermore the model consists of a horizontal axis and a vertical axis. By using the Minerva model it will be established that it is difficult to place the target customers of respectively the landline telephone and the mobile telephone due to the fact that the model does not provide an opportunity to blend two or more of the coloured segments. The Mosaic model will be used to provide another possibility to determine the target customers of respectively the landline telephone and the mobile telephone. It is based on geodemographic values i.e. it combines the study of people with where they......

Critical Analysis of How Successful People Think

...Analysis In the article How Successful People Think, Roger Martin explores the way successful leaders come to new ideas and solutions to their problems by embracing “integrative thinking”. He explains it as having a capacity to hold two opposite ideas at once and finding a middle ground that is superior to both. Even though this article was published in Harvard Business Review and it’s target is educated audience (mostly in business field), language and style of writing are articulate and clean. Author does not use over technical words or examples that common person wouldn’t know. Title is bold, bright and hard to miss. Pictures are set up to be inviting and on the point (brain, light bulb). Writer is targeting people who have a wish to improve their leadership skills and recognizes that this quality is spread throughout all social classes and educational levels. His tone is light, supportive, conversational and readers can tell that author is personally involved in the subject: “… wisely, I might add…”,”…I have interviewed…”. In conclusion of the article Mr. Martin’s voice turns even more declamatory: “But I refuse to believe that the ability to use our opposable minds is a gift reserved for minority of people…” Roger Martin is the dean of the Rotman School of Management at University of Toronto. His passion for the subject is undeniable, but evidence he presents appears personal, weak and contradictory. He claims that “…(successful leaders) share somewhat unusual......

VCs want to know how you "drew down" your revenue estimates from the market potential figures (which hopefully include estimates from external sources). Ultimately, they want to see a large growth opportunity that scales quickly, thereby allowing them to realize the payoff on their investment as soon as possible. Be prepared to explain in detail the process you used to estimate revenues from market potential. 6. What is it about your management team that makes them uniquely capable of executing on this business plan? You've probably heard that the three most important items in private equity investing are management, management and management. More specifically, VCs are typically looking for management with experience in building a business, experience in the industry (or with the product) and strong character. What comprises the latter? VCs look for managers who demonstrate high energy or passion, resourcefulness, integrity, perseverance, risk-taking ability and mental horsepower. Also, a frequently overlooked quality is that of humility --for example, sometimes founders may need to step aside and let someone with more experience lead the company. 7.
