When dealing with the man in terms of anger, there arises the issue of obeying one’s father and mother. Scripture says that all people are to honor their father and mother and are to listen to them. While it is understandable that parent and child may at times get into arguments, at the end of the day it is the duty of the child to honor the parent. It does more good to have a conversation with one’s parent about disagreements than it does to lash out in unnecessary and unexpected ways. If the parent is unwilling to listen and be understanding of the child, then it ma be wise to get an unbiased third party involved. However, it is never the right course of action to do something in retaliation, especially when it cannot be reversed.
Finally, with the question of anguish, it is important to remember that there is no such thing as coincidence in the Christian worldview. If God is in control of all things, sees all things, and knows all things, then nothing comes as a surprise to Him. However, that does not mean that he should be completely let go by the pastor of the church. It is the pastor’s job to counsel those in need, and this man is clearly in need of that counseling. If the man truly desires church membership, he should be willing to listen to the pastor’s recommendations and give weight to those recommendations based on the pastor’s authority. The man must stop pursuing a gender transition immediately and should also undergo extensive counseling with the staff of the church to try and deal with some of the sin issues plaguing the man’s heart. Once those issues are addressed, the man has repented of his actions, and has come to a saving faith in Christ, the question of church membership may again be
