DESCRIPTION FOR THE BILLBOARD ADVERTISING IDEA According to the idea advertised on the above billboard, the main purpose was not to sell a product but it was intended to create awareness. So, its intention is to call on more people to attend the forthcoming FIFA world cup, which in return will generate more gate fee collection at the event. This can be interpreted as a way of selling sports entertainment. Some of the characteristics incorporated in the ad that can annoy people may be the selection of characters (Mortimer, Brooks, Smith and Hiam 243). As much as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are arguably the best players in the world, it is not surprising to assume that a number of soccer lovers hate them. This is because radio reaches many people compared to other forms of advertisements. Unlike billboard, which is only accessible by people from a designated location, radio reaches several people from different geographical location as long as they understand the language used in transmission (Blick 106). In terms of distinction and prestige, the ad fits radio format. This is because the product being advertised is targeted to everyone regardless of their financial status, and radio is the medium that cuts across all the distinctions. Finally, just like other forms of advertising medium, radio advertisement does not provide adequate time to create satisfactory selling message. On the other hand, an effective advertisement can also be successful even if it does not meet the promises made on the product. This can only occur on inferior products which after being tried by users and do not meet the excepted standards, they are abandoned. An effective advertising plan helps in creating a brand of a product. Some of these advertising forms include billboard advertising, advertising through direct mail, radio advertising and among others. Nonetheless, as much as advertising is meant to make a product known or sell more through reaching many people, the number of clients targeted and reached by various types of advertising differs.
