My Favorite Person Ever

“Beep! Beep!” As I woke up to the loud sound of an alarm, I knew today was going to be a big day. My little sister would be born today: October 27th, 2005. I crept over to my big brother’s room, and I woke him up with the great news. He jumped up out of his bed. I told him that Mom was at the hospital and that we needed to get there. He replied that he had a test that day at his high school. I told him that Mya would be more important than some dumb test. As we began to fight, my brother pushed me down the steps like he was an offensive lineman protecting his quarterback. As the pain shot up my arm, I began to sob. I just could not stop. My brother Andrew left me like LeBron left Cleveland in 2010. I was at home all by myself, and nobody was answering the phone.
Finally my Dad called me on the house phone. He told me to go to school and that he would come pick me up. I wiped the tears off my face, jumped in the shower, and frantically washed my body, As the water began to touch my skin I began to think about all the times I sat on my mom’s soft bed and read stories to Mya with my mouth touching my mom’s stomach. I wondered which parent Mya would look like, if we were going to have a good relationship, and most importantly if I was going to be a great big brother.
I got out of the shower, and I dried off as quickly as I could. I went to my closet and looked for an outfit like I was going to meet the President of The United States. I decided to pick out my black suit, a blue shirt, and my blue tie with airplanes and clouds on it. Once I got dressed, I ran down the stairs and got some cereal. I opened the refrigerator and got some cold milk and splashed it over my frosted flakes.
When I got done with my cereal I rushed out of the like there was a house fire. I stood outside in the cool autumn weather, waiting for the school bus. I could do nothing but smile from the excitement, and shake nervously. I heard a loud screech I looked up, and I saw a yellow school bus. I ran to the doors of the bus, they opened up like the automatic doors at Wal-Mart. I got on and sat down in seat “E’ my favorite seat.
As the bus pulled up to the school I got off, the bus, and walked on the long sidewalk in front of the smaller brick building. As I walked in through the front doors the aroma of warm breakfast cookies hit my nostrils. So I walked in the Café to get some but the lines were way too long like everyone was waiting on the new IPhone coming out. So I left the lunchroom and walked to my class.
Shortly after I walked into my class my dad was there he told me that Mya had been born and that my mom was just resting. As we headed to the hospital it seemed like time was moving so slow, like we could not get there fast enough. When we pulled up to the parking garage the guard stopped us, and showed us where to park.
As we entered the cold hospital building, in my ears all I could here was the sound of babies crying echoing through the long hallways. I wondered which one was Mya, so we walked and walked. Finally my dad stopped and looked at the room 333. It was about to happen I would meet my favorite person in the whole world. There she was lying down on the hospital bed. She had beautiful brown hair with blonde highlights throughout it, light brown eyes that lit up as the incubator light glowed on her face. My mom sat up from her bed and she asked me if I wanted to hold Mya. I took a deep breathe, wiped off my face and I told my mom yes I would love to. She handed me Mya and I whispered in Mya’s ear “I’ll love you forever ill sis”
From that moment I knew that Mya and I would have a great relationship for years to come. “Adam! Adam!” “Wake up.” Said Mya, as I was shook like a ship in a storm, Mya wanted me to get up and help her with packing her clothes for our trip to Omaha, Nebraska. I ran down the stairs to make breakfast my feet, stepped onto the cold smooth wood floor. I looked at Mya and I asked her to run up stairs and go get me my slippers. When Mya returned she walked over to the kitchen and scooted the brown chair over to the marble counter. I was on the other side by the fridge; I opened the door and pulled out the brown eggs, bacon, and waffle mix. I asked Mya to reach up and get a bowl.
Mya started to climb the smooth counter top; she opened the white cabinet and smacked herself in the forehead. Mya fell and made a loud thud on the ground. As the loud bang echoed against the tan walls, my dad ran down the stairs as if there was an alligator in his room. He came down groaning like a grizzly bear. He asked what was going on, I replied, “Mya fell off the counter”. My dad walked around the counter and he went over to Mya to help her up. Once he finished making sure she was okay, he sat her down on the couch and told her to behave herself. Then he vanished into the darkness of the hallway.
I walked over to Mya on the couch and asked her if she was okay. She replied, “I’m fine, I just want to watch Disney channel”. As I got up off of the leather couch, I looked around the glass table and I could not find the remote. So to make Mya happy I decided that I would be her human remote. This meant that I would have to go manually change the channels on the cable box. After a couple of hours of repeatedly flipping through the channels my fingers felt like they had fallen off of my hand. But it was for my little sister so it didn’t matter to me.
After Several hours of watching Disney Channel and countless Pixar Movies, Mya was feeling better. It was time to go pack so that we could get on the road. I picked Mya up and I placed her on top of my shoulders and we headed to her room. As we went up the stair, Mya was counting ever-single time we took a step “1,2,3.” We finally made it on the top of the steps, as I got ready to go into her room I felt her cold little clammy hands cover my eye balls. Mya had a surprise.
While I was sleep Mya had packed her clothes the previous night. That’s why she woke me up the next morning. I gave Mya a big hug, and walked her pink sparkly suitcase down the steps and I placed it inside of the back of my moms Toyota.
Now we were just waiting on my mom and dad to finish packing and come down stairs I asked Mya to tell me what happened in her own words. Mya wrote down everything. When she passed the paper I started to read it. So I was lying down in my soft bed tucked in like a little burrito. That’s when I got up and decided to pack my clothes and surprise my favorite big brother Adam. I quietly tiptoed over to my bed like a ninja in the night. I grabbed my favorite pink dress, the one with the sparkles on it, and the tutu on the end. I packed other thing to but I just threw it in the suitcase. Then I peeked into Adam’s room like I was a burglar to see if he was awake. When I looked into his room Adam was sleeping like he was hibernating nothing could wake him up. So I just shut his door really slowly, and then I walked back down the hall to my room.
I had decided I would surprise him tomorrow when it was time to pack. Later on that morning I walked into his room and woke him up ”Adam! Adam! “He woke up and his morning breath hit me in the face I almost forgot what I was going to ask him for. Then I remembered I wanted him to make me a nice breakfast. So he agreed and we headed down the stairs. We went into the kitchen and he turned the nob on the oven and pre-heated the oven. Once Adam opened the fridge and grabbed the eggs and placed them on the counter. After that he leaned over, gave me a hug and asked me if I could get a bowl out of the cabinet for him. I climbed onto the counter top and my foot fell asleep. It would not move, as I tried to wake my foot up I fell off the counter onto the floor. I began to scream as if I had gotten shot in my neck.
When I looked up Adam and daddy were over me asking if I was okay. I told them I was fine. Daddy suggested I just lay on the couch. As I got up onto the couch I could not find the remote. So Adam decided to be my remote. I think after a couple movies went off that’s when I fell into a deep sleep.
I woke up abruptly to Adam’s music he told me to wake up it was time to go pack. Now was my chance to surprise him. As I folded my pink blanket up, I told Adam to let me get on his shoulders. We went up the steps, every step I saw I was counting them one by one. I put my hands over his eyes and told him surprise. I showed him that I had packed my clothes the previous morning. My big brother was proud of me. He gave me a hug and a kiss on my forehead. Then he read me a story about Princess Tiana. We joked and laughed all night long.
The next morning Adam came in my room and woke me up and he took all of my bags down the steps. Adam and my other brothers Jerrell, Mitchi, and Brandon loaded the car up. We got in and we headed for Omaha, Nebraska.

Personl Responsibility Rough Draft

...Personal Responsibility William H. Hill Jr. GEN/200 31 January, 2012 Sherell Ellis I believe that personal responsibility is to be accountable for one’s actions and an individual obligation to personal success. College diplomas are not given to teams. These special certificates are presented as an acknowledgement of individual accomplishment and a testament to a student’s hard work, personal dedication and commitment in achieving academic success. In an educational environment a person can and should give credit to those who have provided them with instruction and by imparting some of their wisdom upon them. However, once someone has been provided with the tools and resources to assist them along the way, ultimately it is up to the individual on how to use those tools correctly. Instructors only have a limited amount of time during which they can provide direction, guidance, and encouragement. After that, students on their own to control the amount of time and effort that is necessary to be successful in reaching their personal educational goals. Once out of the classroom, a student must take upon themself to manage their time wisely and to make the correct decision of how much effort you should personally dedicate to their studies. ...health care manager who wants to encourage efficiency and the highest standards of service? A stage of Change Model as proposed by Prochaska and Colleagues for addictive behaviors consists of six dynamic stages. The six stages are: Precontemplation, Contemplation, preparation, action maintenance, and termination. Precontemplation is when an individual is not considering making any changes. Contemplation is the time when an individual is aware there is a problem and is considering taking action to resolve it. Preparation refers to the time when an individual commits to taking action sometime within the next 30 days. Action is the busiest time. There are noticeable efforts to change the targeted behavior. Maintenance is the stage when a person tries to stabilize the behavior change and prevent relapse. Termination is the final stage, this occurs when there is zero temptation to revert back to the old behavior. Healthcare administrators can utilize the Prochaska Stages of Change model to assists themselves in developing procedures to support patients or subordinates who will benefit from behavior modification. Life Support

...Quinlan Case, Barber v. Supreme Court Case, Cruzan Case, Gilgunn Case --Protected under the 14th amendment Autonomy- determining moral responsibility for one's actions Some people think that a patient’s death should be in the hands of the physician, if their condition isn’t consistent or advancing. A will is something that people use to make sure their desires are met if they are unable to make the decision by themselves. The idea of keeping a will was widespread in the 1990’s, the number of people that say they have a living will more than doubled from 12% in 1990 to 29% now (Peoplepress 1). But what about the other 71% of American’s? An accident can happen to anybody and if you aren’t able to make decision’s for yourself who is the person who will be making those decision’s for you. Life support would fall under this law in the case of someone not getting better, they could be taken off of life support with the allowance of a delegate of the patient. Television over Paper

...Television over Paper There will always be news wherever you go. When you witness a certain event, the chances of you seeing a person or a group of persons reporting about that event will be high. Even the simple sharing of information around your friends is broadcasting news. There are many persons, groups, institutions, and media groups writing and reporting news; you can see them in television, newspapers, or even live from the event. In our society of today, you will observe many persons acquiring news on Television channels, and less people reading newspapers having almost 20 pages back to back. Both may have the same content, but many still choose television over newspapers. Yoshinos New Civil Rights: Possible?

...Just Listen Open your ears and close your mouth. That is the golden idea. Everyone has the right to openly voice his or her opinion and thoughts but sometimes that is not what the world needs. Sometimes in order to achieve global change, stepping back, looking through all the bullshit and absorbing other cultures, ideas, and opinions is the best thing. Look through each persons culture, religion, and political position and just focus on his or her human right; the rights that each person in the world is born with regardless of his or her background. Perceiving individuals as humans who deserve rights that protect them from persecution and judgment is the only way to achieve the evolution of the “new” civil rights. Although majority of people believe it is impossible for every individual in the world to be equal the truth is that that is the only way the “new” civil rights are going to evolve because in order to achieve this everyone needs to drop the covers they put up and just listen. Achieving the evolution of the “new” civil rights is a mutual responsibility and in order to do so finding common ground is essential. In this mutual responsibility, it is society’s job to ensure that lawmakers realize the problems and then demand change. “The real solution lies in all of us citizens, not in the tiny subset of us who are lawyers.” (Yoshino 487) Lawmakers are there for society and unless society voices a concern or demand for these “new” civil rights nothing is going to happen...

Personal Responsibility

...that an important personal trait to have is organization. I believe with proper organization you can achieve personal responsibility which helps you achieve success. I define personal responsibility as having integrity, accepting consequences and the effects that an individual’s actions have on others. To me integrity has three characteristics: being honest, having values or morals, and being self-aware. I believe it is a conscious decision to admit ones mistakes by telling the truth whether or not someone is watching me. Values are used to create an individual’s moral compass telling me what is right or wrong. I feel that many values a person has is often constructed by a person’s culture as well as the individuals that raised them; I believe that a person always has the choice to reevaluate and change their morals as they choose. For a person to have self-awareness I consider if the individual is not only reliable and trustworthy but also possesses humility and are humble instead of a sense of indulgent pride. Another trait of personal responsibility is accepting consequences. I consider accepting consequences as having the courage to face the fear of what may happen because of a person’s poor choices or mistakes. I also feel that to effectively do this is to accept with grace and not contempt, and to be part of solution to the problems caused. To ensure personal responsibility an individual must understand the effects their choices or mistakes have on others. The effects not...

From the same dictionary, the word personal is defined as: “Affecting one individual; not public or general.” (“Personal,” n.d). When the two definitions are looked at together, one can easily conclude what personal responsibility means. Personal responsibility is, as the definition says, being able to answer for and hold oneself accountable for their actions. As a college career starts, importance lies in a person being able to fulfill obligations. While in college, a student’s obligations are their courses. In order to have a successful college career, each individual student must realize that they solely determine the outcome of their schooling.
