This article was written in response to Wolff-Michael review of Harry F. Wolcott’s, and Its aftermath, which offers an account of events started by an earlier work by Wolcott "Adequate Schools and Inadequate Education; The Life History of a Sneaky Kid." Originally designed to examine the distinctions between schooling and education, using both McMillan’s (2012) criteria and Wolcott’s (1994). The qualitative method used to analyze the participant in the Wolcott work were direct data collection, rich narrative descriptions, process orientation, data analysis, participant perspectives, and social constructive meaning. Wolcott (1994) was able to show trustworthiness through his research by conducting a two years study showing prolonged engagement. …show more content…
I believe the work to be credible because of the detailed information presented about the character of the article. Credibility was a crucial criterion in Wolcott "Adequate Schools and Inadequate Education; The Life History of a Sneaky Kid. That is proposed in several quality frameworks. Wolcott (1994), used the strategy reflexive journaling, that set up credibility. The data collection used in the article was prolonged engagement, persistence observation, comprehensive field notes, verbatim transcription, triangulation of data method, saturation of data, and member checking. Quality enhancement strategies used in Wolcott "Adequate Schools and Inadequate Education; The Life History of a Sneaky Kid." were data collection, data coding/ analysis and presentation of findings. Cerebral lateralization is the process which the two hemispheres of the brain increasingly specialized in particular tasks. There are four methods of cerebral lateralization to study the functions of the right and left hemisphere of the brain. These methods include the sodium amytal test, the dichotic listing test, and functional brain imaging. The forth method of cerebral lateralization is comparing the effects of unilateral left and right hemisphere brain lesions. The sodium amytal test is a language lateralization that is given to patients before neurosurgery. During this test the patient is injected with a small amount of sodium amytal into the carotid artery on one side of the neck. The injection anesthetizes the hemisphere on that side for a few minutes, thus allowing the capacities of the other hemisphere to be assessed (Pinel, 2011). The patients are then asked to recite things such as numbers or letters to see if they still have the ability to speak. The dichotic listening test is a noninvasive test. This test can also be given to health people. Hermione, the young scholar who starts out prim and up-tight but soon becomes a true friend; Ron, the boy who has little money but who has an abundance of family and loyalty to his friends to make up for it; and then there’s Harry, the boy who starts out sleeping in a closet and ends up being a hero.
