Htc No Me-Too Products, Why Not?

...No Me-Too Products? Why Not Me-Too Products! Prepared for Peter Chou CEO HTC Corporation Prepared by HKU-FUDAN IMBA No.670,Guoshun Lu October 8, 2012 No Me-Too Products? Why Not Me-Too Products! Executive Summary To stay competitive in an ever-evolving landscape and in response to the emerging trend of mobile computing a decade later, HTC should introduce “me-too products” and join the tablet PC bandwagon. My research shows that HTC is likely to remain the major player in smartphone and tablet PC manufacturing if it follow suit. First, tablet PC category is fairly new, HTC does not necessarily need to sustain this “no-me-too” rule as long as its product concepts are no less innovative than the current offerings by competitors. Second, the 3G smartphone market is far from saturated. With HTC’s brand and R&D ability, HTC can vastly improve its market share. Third, Good artists borrow great artists steal--Pablo Picasso To implement and maximize the Me-Too Products strategy, my recommendations are as following: 1. Ensure the originality and creativity of “Me-to Products” • “Learn” from Samsung and “Steal” from Apple • Not necessarily price war involved, stay cool and stay stylish • Disruptive innovation—develop “Textbook” for students and “Solus” for the senior citizens. • Stick to Google Android system 2. Remain the pioneer of mobile computing a decade later • Keep the......

E-Commerce Business Model - Htc

...HTC - 8 keys elements in Business Model 1. Value proposition Value proposition is the benefits, including the intangible, nonquantitative ones, that a company can derive from using EC. In B2C EC, value proposition defines how a company’s product or service fulfills the needs of customers. Thus, a company can fulfill the needs of customers when they can obtain four sets of values that are created by e-business. According to Amit and Zott (2011) the four sets of values includes search and transaction cost efficiency, complementarities, lock-in and novelty. It can be seen clearly in the case of HTC: * HTC’s business model actually brings search and transaction cost efficiency. It enables HTC faster and more informed decision making, wider product and service selection, greater economies of scale. This element has contributed to the satisfaction of customer of HTC when they find an excellent products and services in a wide range of smartphones with a reasonable and competitive cost. * Complementarities is also a benefit derived from using EC of HTC because HTC has bundled their and services together to provide more value to customers. For example when buying a HTC smartphone you will also find their after-sale services from HTC. * Lock-in is considered a contributor to the stickness of customers with HTC’s products. * Novelty: On February 17, 2010, Fast Company ranked HTC as the 31st most innovative company in the world. It’s smartphones and tablets......

Android: Is Open Source Better for the Masses?

...Android: Is Open Source Better for the Masses? Jarrod R. Worlitz ITT Technical Institute, Sylmar Campus EN1420 Abstract This paper makes the argument that Google’s Android Operating System and the open source platform it provides is superior to its major competitor, Apple’s closed source iOS. The focus will be on how the ecosystem of “smartphones” and other mobile devices (such as tablets and phablets) has been impacted by Google, Inc.’s decision to release the Android Operating System as “Open Source Software” (OSS), allowing for a wider adoption of the platform than was achievable by Apple Inc.’s iPhone, whose marketing strategy and decision to is control both hardware and software. The claim will be supported by explaining the superiority of Android in terms of its benefits to manufacturers, consumers, and software developers. Android: Is Open Source is Better for the Masses? One of the fastest growing technologies is mobile computing. This fascinating trend in communication was propelled in large by the introduction of smartphones. Smartphones provide instant access to information and programs only previously available users from a desktop PC. To be clear, there are many other such mobile devices on the market that do not qualify as phones, such as tablets and “phablets” (a hybrid phone and tablet) however their roots can be traced back to two major platforms. These platforms are maintained by some of the largest companies in a competitive market. The......

Htc Marketing Plan

...tag line quietly brilliant, because HTC shouldn’t be quiet about anything it does. HTC makes great smartphones, but has gotten their clock cleaned over the last few years because they navigated around the mobile phone arena like a ship which lost its direction. HTC's new in-your-face marketing strategy is certainly going to help the company increase its market share – but hopefully HTC won’t stop its change in strategy at marketing. Let’s call it like it is, Samsung has run circles around the other smartphone manufacturers - including HTC. Samsung’s intense marketing strategy coupled with great hardware has helped vault the manufacturer into the number one spot. Even with complaints about the Galaxy S IV being too plastic or looking too much like the S III, Samsung is still going to be the manufacturer to knock off the perch. I believe that HTC is in a position to do this, but the company needs to invest in more than just marketing. The manufacturer is at a great starting point with the HTC One. But what it needs to do is make the name One have some meaning. I believe that if HTC beat out the competition by being the best at updating its firmware, that could help its image. Having hardware which is running the newest version of Android is certainly something to promote and would put HTC head and shoulders above the competition, because more likely than not, Google is going to offer a feature or experience that people will want. HTC also needs to work out whatever......

Letter of Complaint

...To whom this may concern, I would like to bring to your attention an issue I have been experiencing with my services with T-Mobile USA, Inc. Starting in June or July of this year, I began to experience a lost of signal on my mobile device, the My Touch Slide 3G. I was on a phone call and the call dropped. When that call dropped, I never received another signal and the phone would display “emergency calls only” followed by “searching” signal. I tried various troubleshooting options and even waited a few days to see if the coverage would recover before I ended up calling T-Mobile customer care. When I called customer care, the representative proceeded to have me perform all the routine troubleshooting options before they decided to send me another My Touch Slide 3G because they could not figure out why the device would not recover a signal. Needless to say, I received the replacement My Touch Slide 3G and the phone worked for a few weeks and then I began to experience the same exact issue. Overall, I was sent a total of 3 different My Touch Slide 3G’s and they all would eventually lose signal permanently. After the 3rd replacement lost signal, I called customer care and they then decided that it is not the phone but that it is the SIM card I was using. I had the same SIM card since joining T-Mobile in 2006. After receiving the new “4G” SIM card, the phone started working. Then a few weeks later, it lost signal again. On 9-9-11I called into customer care again and after......
