Water has Been Discovered on Mars In 1969 man landed on the satellite we call the moon. In 1972 the land rover landed on the red planet. Now in 2015 the announcement of liquid water on Mars has been discovered. We’ve looked through massive telescopes, put them is space, all to answer the question; are we alone?

Liquid water on present day Mars has been revealed to the public by NASA. An undergraduate guitarist at the University of Arizona discovered streaks of water on Mars in 2011. Not a scientist, just an average undergraduate overachiever. Later in 2015 NASA held a press conference on the subject. NASA released news about liquid water on Mars, and possibly life. Lujendra Ojha is a student at the University of Arizona. Ojha, a guitar player, wants to obtain his degree in physics, loves wormholes, the string theory, and time travel. The undergraduate discovered streaks on mars surface in 2011. These streaks gave a lead to NASA about flowing water on Mars. Even non-scientists, average people can make incredible scientific discoveries.

NASA held a press conference to release the news of water on Mars in 2015. Jon Grunsfeld, Jim Green, and Michael Meyer all were holding the Nasa press conference. Each person is an employee at NASA, working on the Mars project. During the press conference these men released news about water on today’s Mars. They said that dark streaks that had been from flowing water were discovered. The information released during this press conference was very important.

After the release of is news, many conspiracy theories arose. Many political and normal people questioned the reason behind releasing the information. Many people have said they made up an excuse that Mars had gone barren because of climate change. Earlier that day the UN had made a push to slow down climate change on Earth. Another group of people questioned if there was a relation to the movie The Martian. The 20th Century Fox release The Martian was supported by NASA, and launched the same week the information was released. There are a lot of conspiracy theories posed by multiple people about the

Evidence of Prehistoric Bacterial Life Found from Mars

...Evidence of Prehistoric Bacterial Life found from Mars: I wonder if there are still any possible life-forms on Mars From the beginning of time, the universe has always been a mystery to mankind. We have been intrigued by the many wonders of the universe and as time elapsed, technology increased, and the minds of human beings have evolved, extraterrestrial life remains a recurring interest. The rising curiosity of extraterrestrial life has plagued the minds of Scientists to common folk. People have held various theories based on their imagination on what life would resemble. Over time, many great discoveries have been made as well as many excursions into outer space. Planets, stars, galaxies, comets, our moon and sun we’ve discovered. We have advanced enormously within the technology field and this advancement has enabled man to be educated about space and the wonders thereof. However, the greatest question of extraterrestrial life has not been answered. Many of us perceive life forms to be humanlike species or “Cycloptic” (one-eyed) creatures similar to the aliens depicted in Science fiction films. However we fail to realize the life can be as small as bacteria or as enormous as prehistoric creatures like dinosaurs. The planet Mars, is one which is very close to the characteristics of our very own earth and with recent missions to Mars in the search for life I believe that life does exist on Mars upon recent findings and also theories which dictate the requirements for life...

Mars: The Rehydration Of Mars

...Mars is generally thought to be a dry lifeless wasteland, however at one point it may have possessed an environment alike Earth's. This theory has provoked scientists to delve deeper; looking for signs of current or past life on Mars. The lack of any vegetation or other visible organisms on mars indicated that the only life that may be found would reside in the dirt of the red planet. Instead of referring to the matter covering the surface of mars as soil it is referred to as dirt; for this matter to be considered soil it would have to be proven to contain organic life. The dirt itself has remained undisturbed for an unknown amount of years longer than mankind could measure without a sample of Mars. If a sample were to be retrieved then it...

Science Extreme Weather Unit

...Extreme Weather Unit Abstract This unit will study extreme weather on Earth but more specifically Mars and Venus. In the first steps it outlines the summary of this unit. The steps that the students have to take in studying these planets are outlined in the objectives. There are three cognitive objectives, one psychomotor, and one affective objective. The students will take this new knowledge of these planets and have to compare and contrast it with each other as well as weather on Earth. They will then have to assemble their own measuring tool for Mars or Venus and then have to defend their tool as the last step in this unit. As the students go through this unit they will be going through the levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy. They will start in the knowledge category as they start off describing weather but will finish in the evaluating category with their final creation presenting and defending why their tool would work on Mars or Venus. By taking these steps, utilizing back ground knowledge, and being able to create and make a measuring tool this would be a great lesson to add to any weather unit that is hands-on and engaging. Extreme Weather Unit Studying extreme weather on other planets is a very engaging lesson to teach to grades 2-5. It gives the students’ knowledge on weather that we experience on Earth and makes them think beyond that to our whole solar system. They will also be challenged to create their own measuring tools to use on other planets in the solar...

Gift Giving Research Paper

...Megan Coburn Professor Tabitha Kenlon ENGL1111 19 March 2013 Giving gifts to get what we want- Gifts with an Ulterior Motive For thousands of years communication has been construed ambiguously. Regardless of whether it’s what we are feeling or what we need, the fact remains that humans have a hard time conveying everything they want to say during conversation (with verbal speech) and, likewise perceiving it. With regard to these factors, I wish to examine the underlying motives behind the process of gift giving, throughout the centuries, in different contexts and across various cultures. Individuals offer gifts, symbolically, for many reasons and in varying circumstances. Gifts may be distributed ritually, or in such a way that they distinguish hierarchies. They may also be used as a sign of affection when wooing a partner and are frequently utilized in business relations. It is important to note that there exists a difference between gifts given to other people and gifts given to oneself. A gift giving behavior is defined as a “process of gift exchange that takes place between a giver and a recipient.” (Keng, Kau Ah, Wang, Quain, and Mohammed Abdur Razzaque, 214) In the opinion of Schall, “culture is a rule-based phenomenon,” in other words, to be considered actively apart of a culture one is required to observe and conform to all of the implied and tacit rules that society deems apropos. Circumstance or situations are an important aspect of these untold rules that...

The History of Mars

...Mars and its Future.           On November 28, 1964, the Mariner 4 spacecraft was launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. After 7 ½ months of flight, Mariner 4 reached the surface of mars and took the first pictures of the Martian planet. Since then we have launched more than 40 spacecrafts to mars, from orbiters that fly by the atmosphere to landers that have been on the surface of Mars (“10 things to know about mars”) . Today we still continue to progressively learn and to explore the famous red planet.           Mars is the same age as Earth. The whole solar system and everything in it was formed the same time, about 4.56 billion years ago. One of the greatest scientific questions is if there's life on Mars. Since scientists know that Earth and Mars both experienced similar weather conditions in early history, and life eventually happened on Earth. Therefore life may have begun on Mars too. The big question is if life did start their, then how did it die out? Maybe there is still life on Mars, and it’s buried underground where conditions may be less hostile. The only way to answers all these questions is to explore Mars.         Scientist call comparisons between Earth and Mars analogs. Scientists say that even though, the two planets are mostly different when it comes to the atmosphere, temperature, size, and the geologic processes on the two planets. Surprisingly there are similarities between the two planets, also. An example is, on Mars there are volcanoes, channels...

Planets

...PLANETS By Reanna Hinson The purpose of my project and essay is to familiarize ourselves with the different planets within our own solar system. I will present different, unique and amazing facts about each the eight planets. My project also displays a colored example of what each planet appears to look like as well as statistical information. Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars, are called the terrestrial planets because they have solid rocky surfaces. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune and are called gas giants. Earth is the only planet of the eight that has life forms as we know them. All other planets have extreme conditions such as temperatures, atmospheres and weather that make life as we know it impossible to exist, but we still keep looking for alien signs of life. Mercury Mercury is a small planet that spins very slowly in orbit around the sun. It is the planet closest to the sun and has extreme temperature changes. During the day the temperature can soar to 870° Fahrenheit and at night time down to -300° Fahrenheit. Mercury has no moons and a very small and weak atmosphere because the Sun’s solar winds have blown it away. This causes very little to no air on Mercury. Venus Venus and Earth are just about the same size, but Venus always has a thick cloud cover making it impossible to see the surface of the planet, and traps a lot of the Sun’s heat making it the hottest average temperature of all the planets. The average temperature is 850° Fahrenheit...

Mars

...ar Mars By: Amanda Baker The discovery of Mars is not credited to a single individual, but rather a multitude of astronomers and observers that range from the early Egyptians to the Babylonians, Greeks, and Danish. In the earliest days of Mars observation, all that was known about it was that it appeared to be a fiery red and followed a strange loop in the sky, unlike any other. “The Babylonians studied astronomy as early as 400 BC, and developed advanced methods for predicting astronomical events such as eclipses. They made careful observations for their calendars and religious reasons, but never attempted to explain the phenomena they witnessed. The Babylonians called Mars Nergal - the great hero, the king of conflicts. The Egyptians were the first to notice that the stars seem "fixed" and that the sun moves relative to the stars. They also noticed five bight objects in the sky (Mercury, Mars, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn) that seemed to move in a similar manner. They called Mars Har Decher - the Red One. Greeks called the planet Ares after their god of war, while the Romans called it Mars. Its sign is thought to be the shield and sword of Mars” (NASA, 2015). Mars is the fourth planet from the sun and referred to as the god of War. The planet probably got this name due to its red color; Mars is sometimes referred to as the Red Planet. Mars has been known since prehistoric times, and of course, it has been extensively studied with ground-based observatories. But even very...

The home office in La Jolla, CA., and two other locations: Del Mar, CA. and Encinitas, CA. All three locations will require an upgraded network. T3 Dedicated Line is all three stores together. The current network can be described as a Bus topology. A bus network topology is an architecture in which a set of clients are connected via a shared communications line called bus. “A bus topology consists of a main run of cable with a terminator at each end. All nodes such as workstations, printers, servers are connected to the linear cable.” (omnisecu.com) In Kudler Food situation, each of 3 cites utilize the same configuration of service, workstations, standalone UPS and a dedicated OC1 SONET which are connected to an 100 Base T Eethernet backbone. Bus topology has some advantages and disadvantages. The main advantage of the bus topology is that a computers or peripherals are easy to connect to a linear bus. Bus topologies are relatively easy to install and don't require much cabling compared...

...another planet? What would we need to survive, to thrive, and to be comfortable on our new “alien” planet? We chose not to present the question “How do we get there?” since that question brings up an infinite amount of theories that Scientist and Physicist alike are still trying to overcome. Which planet would we want to live on? We chose a moon proven to have liquid water under its surface, Enceladus. With other living options out there like Mars, or Titan (one of Saturn’s larger moons) we chose in our opinion one of the least taxing and more accommodating locations. Where and Why Enceladus? Enceladus is a one of the Saturn’s moons. Enceladus measures about 500 km (310 miles) in diameter. It has an orbit cycle of 33hrs around Saturn .It is the brightest of Saturn’s moons and currently the only known moon in our solar system to have a surface comprised of pure water ice. It also has many active regions that shoot plumes of water ice from its surface high above toward Saturn. This is important to note because this creates friction and friction creates heat. The average surface temperature near these ice plumes is about -135 °F which is far warmer than you would expect considering Saturn’s distance from our sun. Enceladus provides us with one of the most important things human’s need to survive. Water. With Enceladus’ surface being solid, and liquid water present beneath the surface it wouldn’t be difficult to...

The study of Mars' environment will help us in understanding more about our own environment. This text gives inputs on environment of Mars which can be correlated to the concepts learned by the students in class IX Science. The students are not supposed to memorize the facts and figures mentioned in the text, rather study the facts and figures with the above objectives in mind. Fig. 1: Mars Orbiter Mission Spacecraft getting in to Large Space Simulation Chamber for Testing Mars Orbiter Mission (M.O.M) Mars tugs at the human imagination like no other planet. The conditions in Mars are believed to be hospitable since the planet is similar to earth in many ways. Mars and Earth have almost equal period of revolution around the axis. Mars takes 24 hours and 37 minutes to complete equal period of revolution around the axis. While Earth takes approximately 365 days to orbit round the Sun, Mars takes 687 days for an orbit around the Sun. The gravity of Mars is roughly one-third to Earth’s gravity and it has a thin atmosphere with a pressure of 1% that of Earth. The atmosphere, water, ice and geology interact with each other to produce dynamic Martian environment as in Earth. Mars has surface features reminiscent of both the impact craters of the Moon, volcanoes, deserts and 1 polar ice of Earth. It inspires...

Compulsory Education Should Be Eliminated

...March 25, 2012 Compulsory Education Should be Eliminated Compulsory education has a long-standing history in the United States. Many people in our society, especially public school teachers, administrators, and education association officials, believe it should remain in place. However, many parents and students would agree that forcing students to attend school, especially poorly run public schools, creates more problems than it is worth. It costs our state and its taxpayers billions of dollars each year, and many critics claim that students graduate unprepared for higher education and employment. For these, and several other reasons, compulsory education laws should be repealed, and compulsory education should be banned. The history of compulsory education dates back to the colonization of North America; in 1642 the Massachusetts Bay Colony had a compulsory literacy law for all children. If parents weren’t providing the “proper” education, colony officials could remove the children and assign them as apprentices to state-appointees (Rothbard, Compulsory Education in the United States section, ¶ 2). After the Revolutionary War, Massachusetts again started the country in the direction of compulsory education by including it in the state constitution. In 1789, compulsory school attendance was law in Massachusetts. The state of Connecticut followed suit in 1805, and in 1842 expanded the law by requiring all children under the age of 15 who had jobs to attend...

The Truth Behind the Knight: the Presence of Archetypes in Sir Gawain & the Green Knight

...life could mean, archetypes enable any protagonist in any story to take a journey to find the treasure of their true self. In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Gawain was willing to take on the heroic quest and say yes to himself and, in doing so, became more fully alive and more effective to the knightly community and, inadvertently, the literary world. The purpose of the heroic quest is to find the gift retrieved from the journey and give the gift to help transform the kingdom, and in the process, the hero himself. In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, three archetypes are present that displays the qualities of a heroic quest that leads Gawain to become a true knight in shining armor. The Innocent Hero Archetype, the Seeker Archetype, and the Lover Archetype forms the mold that Sir Gawain conforms to that makes him fulfill the quest and earn the honor of a literary classic. The Innocent Hero Archetype is present when describing how Gawain acts and thinks during his journey. It is characterized by the gifts of trust, optimism, and loyalty (Pearson 71). Heroes that are innocent usually are prone to trust life, themselves and other people. It enables them to keep their faith in their...

Self-Driving Taxis - Uber

...Ana Gordina Application Paper - BUAD 307 April 20, 2015 Self-Driving Taxis (Uber): Secondary Market Research Proposal Description: Self-driving taxis will be provided by Uber and would create an additional type of transportation offered to consumers. These taxis will not require a human driver to be present at the wheel. The car will include the latest technology, including GPS systems and smart traffic control, which will get the customer from point A to point B upon request and with minimal delays. The concept of self-driving cars has become very popular in the recent years. About 10 years ago, people were suspect about the safety and overall feasibility of the self-driving machines, let alone self-driving taxis. Today, as more tech companies, like Google, are coming up with these cars and testing their performance, people become more willing to give up their seat at the wheel (Emarketer). Whenever new technology comes out in the market, marketers manipulate on how a specific customer segment will react to the product. Take for example, personal computers or internet and how nobody could have predicted that these products would become a commodity. Yet, today, people can’t picture living without them. Knowing what are the benefits and costs of the product make it easier to create a marketing plan for the product. Thus, this report will cover the following subtopics: 1. Benefits and costs of self-driving taxis 2. Potential pricing strategies and costs to the...
