Where is Pakistan in Pakistan?

In 1947 Boundary of this country was defined by the British. Millions of people Migrated to new born Pakistan after partition. They lost hundreds and thousands of precious lives while they were traveling to their new country towards west. In eastern Pakistan stories were not very different from those of the migrants of the west. The death toll on both sides was huge. From the very first day the people started building their country. A nation that was born in its embryonic stage had to fight all kind of threats, economical as well as the geographical. Since the day we are in a process to build this country and trying to strengthen our nation. A number of cultures and traditions, customs and values, colors and races are still in a process of bonding together. Nation is still to be built and threats are still there since we were born.

It is still in discussion if it had to be an Islamic country or a secular. No matter what foundation its founders wanted it to lie on; we lack a lot in every field. Religious institution is weaker than ever and financial crisis is following us since we were born, haunting our future. Political institution and defense are not able to define their boundaries resulting 3 marshal laws in last 60 years. 30 years were governed by the Army dictators and 30 years by the politicians. All of them tried to make amendments in the constitution for their personal benefits totally forgetting the masses of this country. The people are still looking forward and hopeful for the country they dreamed of 60 years back. The leadership that had to work for the people of this country has never been evident in the past. The rulers are much more autocratic rather than democratic. Politics is much more personality centered and illiterate masses are still unable to decide whom they should vote properly. The so called elite class who has been leading the nation so far has badly failed in strengthening the democratic process and political values for the coming times. In brief we can say that the political front of this country still needs a lot more time to build. The population of this country is about 170 million. Resources are enough if they are utilized properly but policies lack a consistency. The frequent regime change is a major factor to that. The leading class seems to be less Pakistani in this case.

The people of this country have been successful attained the “Nuclear status” in the world but so far they have been failed in diplomatic and political fields. Lack of sincere leadership and an educated man power failing to manage have pushed this country decade behind, when we really need to hold a pace to fight the needs of time. Speaking in an organized sense there are very few people in this country fighting with the menace of corruption all over the country. The Islamic element failing to take a political and influential form was replaced by foreign agendas, leaving the Islamic ideology much closer to conservatives rather than those who wanted to move forward. Still a lot of Islamic segments are trying their best to remind the people of this country about the Islam. There is no doubt that Islamic teachings can bring the people of this nation much closer and the ill fate of this country can be avoided, but, the economical pressures are too much to bear for the masses. Poverty helped this society take Self-Centered approach resulting in a much more selfish life style, and that is totally opposite to that of Islamic ideology. A “clash within”, we can define it. We can conclude that Islamic ideology has always helped different people get the political benefits and not more than that. Weak Islamic education and its very weak relation with our constitution have not helped Pakistan in history. Although it is the only bond that can bring the units of this country get closer.

Domestic front has various challenges but on international front too, we still lack a proper vision and we are still not clear about the difference of friends and foes. Western oriented policies and western influence has been a major problem that our country is facing. If we talk about our geographical boundary, we can not cal ourselves sovereign after the American CIA and NATO forces started their Drone experiments on our soil. Our last president explained the phenomenon in term of finances, “more we are financially independent, more we are sovereign” and I will not disagree to that. The point is that somehow the foreign policy we have been following has most of the times served the western interests and not ours. So both the domestic and foreign polices are less Pakistani as they should have been.

Media as a fourth pillar of this country started its journey a few years back. It is getting mature with a passage of time and it’s the first time in the history that people of this country follow the rulers in a runtime situation. Media is not only informing but according to its own definition it has also started educating the people of this country. Keeping all the politics aside, to some extent we can say that media is much more Pakistani as far as the masses and their voice is being conveyed to not only the leaders of this country but also the international audience.

Pakistan lies in the heart of every individual who is still looking for the right leadership that takes care of the public opinion. The need of that prosperous country is everyone’s’ dream and we can say that they have started learning. In recent history the political parties and people from all corners of the country helped each other getting rid of last army dictator. Judiciary first time since this country was born took a stand in front of the dictatorship and right now is under immense pressure of the masses as they have sacrificed a lot in the process of getting this judiciary restated. Judiciary has to act Pakistani and they have started doing that. All those who were a party to that movement still hold the dream of a strong and just Pakistan in their hearts. Judiciary and Media on one side, Legislators and Executives on the other, it looks like a 50/50 game. The masses on the side of judiciary and Media can bring the other pillars in a balanced proportion if legislators and executives can avoid the undue foreign involvement in the process of decision making.

‘Compare and Comment on the Economic and Social Effects of Flooding in Two Contrasting Areas of the World’ (15 Marks)

...social and economics issues of flooding can be seen in the examples of Pakistan and Cumbria, Both these places have seen floods effecting economic and social issues. Flooding is a naturally occurring event that can be influenced or effected by human intervention, it occurs when discharge of a river exceeds the banks full capacity in a river channel. Floods are triggered by an increase in water volume that can be affected by many different factors, giving it great effect on human inhabitance in locations close to rivers situated around a floodplain. Pakistan has had a generally weak economy with a GDP per capita of about $2,710 and Cumbria with a GDP of $37,356 this shows us that Pakistan is less likely to have to resources to react to a flooding, while Cumbria will have the money to not only react but put in possible precautions to stop or subdue the flooding. With Pakistan having such a low GDP it ‘s right that we should see a large percentage of their population working in agriculture 45.1% and with some states such as Burkina Faso having 90% of its labor force in Agriculture, this compared to Cambria’s percentage of people in agriculture 29% the next largest being 21% (Healthcare and Education) shows that the effect my not be as strong on Cumbria as there will be less people living on flood planes due to little agricultural activity. Although Cumbria with less of a agricultural labor force and Pakistan with its greater agricultural labor force, Cumbria still lies at a big...

Pakistan’s Internal Conflict Between Secularism and Islamic Militancy and the Effect on the Insurgency in Afghanistan

...Afghanistan will be as vital and important a question as it is now1 Lord Cuzon, speaking at the annual dinner of society, London, 1908 Governance of Pakistan is to God alone, it is up to Pakistan to carry out God’s commands2 Qazi Hussain Amhed, leader of Jamiat-e-Islami, Islamic political party in Pakistan INTRODUCTION 1. The rise of Islamic militancy or the jihad culture in Pakistan was directly sponsored by the security forces of Pakistan and is a legacy of Pakistan’s creation as an Islamic state and Pakistan’s involvement in the creation of the Taliban and its rise to power in Afghanistan. Since the arrival of the United States in the region post-9/11 and its support for Pakistan in its fight against Islamic extremism, Pakistan’s home-grown insurgent forces have turned its fight against the state itself in its resistance against a stable and democratic government. This conflict has led to a growth in Islamic extremism in Pakistan’s border regions which have turned into safe-havens for fighters in Afghanistan in their war against the US and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GoIRA). Evidence shows that these fighters still receive covert support from Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) agency and elements of the Pakistani military. 2. Scope. This essay will first explain the roots of Islamic militancy in Pakistan including Pakistan’s involvement in the rise of the Taliban and home-grown extremist groups. This essay will then examine the nature and extent...

A Five Year Forecast” “Islamic Republic of Pakistan”, the full name of this Islamic state clearly shows that Pakistan was bestowed by Allah to us for independent practicing of Islamic principles. After 60 years of sustenance, Pakistan has achieved the hallmark of being a dominant nuclear power but despite of being strong arsenal bank, terrorists have hit the state with full force and their atrocities have prevailed over most of the Northern areas of Pakistan. Pervez Hoodbhoy has written his article “whither Pakistan? A Five-Year Forecast” in this context and this article was published on 3rd June, 2009 in the magazine “Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists”. This was the time when Pak army was totally engaged in wiping out the terrorists from Northern Areas. Pervez Hoodbhoy is an eminent physicist and political-defense analyst, and his concentration in this article is quite coherent with the present condition of terrorism in Pakistan. The lack of interest of Army during the initial advancement of terrorists in Northern areas has led towards a serious demise of national interests. Although the writer has written this article in a great sequence and coherence and the various tactics used in this article urges reader to be convinced but the lack of evidence in the arguments , biased assumptions...

Literature Review

...Toba Tek Singh Two or three years after Partition, the governments of Pakistan and India decided to exchange lunatics in the same way that they had exchanged civilian prisoners. In other words, Muslim lunatics in Indian madhouses would be sent to Pakistan, while Hindu and Sikh lunatics in Pakistani madhouses would be handed over to India. I can't say whether this decision made sense or not. In any event, a date for the lunatic exchange was fixed after high level conferences on both sides of the border. All the details were carefully worked out. On the Indian side, Muslim lunatics with relatives in India would be allowed to stay. The remainder would be sent to the frontier. Here in Pakistan nearly all the Hindus and Sikhs were gone, so the question of retaining non-Muslim lunatics did not arise. All the Hindu and Sikh lunatics would be sent to the frontier in police custody. I don't know what happened over there. When news of the lunatic exchange reached the madhouse here in Lahore, however, it became an absorbing topic of discussion among the inmates. There was one Muslim lunatic who had read the newspaper Zamindar1 every day for twelve years. One of his friends asked him: "Maulvi Sahib! What is Pakistan?" After careful thought he replied: "It's a place in India where they make razors." Hearing this, his friend was content. One Sikh lunatic asked another Sikh: "Sardar ji, why are they sending us to India? We don't even speak the language." "I understand the Indian language...

Pakistan

Muslim religion was introduced to Pakistan area before it was established by Muslim traders in the 8th century. In the 19th century British took over the area that caused an all-India Muslim league to rise and try to fight the control of the British. After the Muslims were able to gain power in the 1930s formation was requested by the Muslims for independence. India and Pakistan were granted this formation by the United Kingdom in 1947. Pakistan was originally divided into two wings, east and west. It wasn’t till 1971 that the east wing was considered another nation called Bangladesh. Due to regional confrontations and domestic political upheavals never being resolved two wars were fought between India and Pakistan in 1947 and 1965 over territory. Since relations between India and Pakistan have been rough, but both countries are trying to make amends. Other struggles Pakistan has faced is very early in its development they had lost several prime ministers that set a course of political instability in the country. They have since had a number of political elections that were no successful till General Pervez Mushrraf became Chief Executive of Pakistan in 1999. Unemployment is often used as a measure of the health of the economy. The most frequently cited measure of unemployment is the unemployment rate. This is the number of unemployed persons divided by the number of people in the labor force. Unemployment in Pakistan: It is a universal problem, even the most advanced & prosperous countries of the world like USA, Britain & Japan are confronted with this problem. As a matter of fact, it is impossible to provide jobs to all. Honestly speaking, this problem exists in our country in an alarming degree. It is a fact that one person out of ten is out of work in Pakistan. The problem is serious in our country because we have unemployment among all the sections of our society among the educated & uneducated, among the skilled & unskilled. Sectarian Violence

...Saleem Khan, London Metropolitan University, Religious Nationalism and Sectarianism in Pakistan Introduction Since the American occupation of Iraq, intra-Muslim violence has become daily news but prior to 2003, Pakistan not Iraq was the global centre for violent conflict between different Muslim sects. In 1947, British India was divided on religious lines and two nation-states India and Pakistan emerged. The British educated founding fathers of Pakistan perceived a united India as being detrimental to Muslims because as a minority Muslims would be not be recognized as equals by the Hindu majority state which would also suppress their rights so the concept of Pakistan was formulated as a nation-state where some aspects of liberal democracy would be implanted so that fairness and non-interference would be the norm. In the 1970s partly because of violent challenges to the state by ethno-nationalist movements partly inspired by uneven economic development and the upheavals in the international arena due to the Cold War, there was a major shift away from pluralistic politics and a move towards greater Islamisation beginning with the narrowing of the definition of a Muslim by the state in which the state gave up its neutrality. Additional government legislation imposing uniform religious taxes widen sectarian differences between the Sunni majority and Shia minority. By not initially accommodating Shia collective demands the state had alienated many of them. The subsequent and...

There are different reason that e-commerce is not suitable business. However we have seen the people paying on Internet to see the movies and pornography. We interview few of them that weather they have bought the goods on Internet the most of them said no. The main reason is that they are expensive. After charging the duties by Government they become more expensive. As for as we are concern if we establish the business for people living in Pakistan and charge them in Pak Rupee we can over come the difficulties of expansiveness of products. Following are the difficulties that E-commerce business is facing. ← Lack of Internet Users In Pakistan the user are very limited but they are growing with less pace. It is very difficult to offer the goods or services for selling. It takes long time to recover the cost. ← Lack of Awareness Common men of Pakistan even do not know about the Internet and computers how we can sell the product. Creation of Pakistan

...In this paper I have compared the modernistic and the conservative point of views, signifying the importance of both and highlighting the events that lead to the creation of Pakistan. My aim is to critically analyze the different interpretations of important events that lead to the creation of Pakistan provided by authors of both schools of thought. The premise that Muslims and Hindus are two different nations, the point that lead to The Two Nation Theory, and that there has always been a general discontent between them can neither be dated back to Emperor Aurangzeb era, (Sayeed, 1969) nor to the British regime for their policy of divide and rule (Alvi, 2002), rather seeing it logically, throughout the course of history Hindus have seen Muslims as outsiders and invaders, as history has seen that first the Lodhi dynasty and then the Mughal dynasty invaded and then ruled India. Similarly, Muslims based on their faith, had always treated Hindus as infidels, but having said so, it seems that over a period of time both communities had somehow carved out a way to live together in the social setting of India and created an amalgam of Muslims and Hindu culture. This is evident from many rituals common in both even today, for example the marriage ceremony practiced by Indian Muslims. So conflict and concord were running in parallel between the two communities and even to this day, there are many events of communal riots in India between Muslim and Hindus simultaneous with frequent events...
